Creation
The national agency for the protection of
the environment ( ANPE) was set up by law 88-91 dated August 02, 1988
and modified by law 92-115 dated November 30, 1992. It is managed by
a board of directors headed by a General Director appointed by virtue
of a decree upon the proposal of the Ministry of environment and territory
planning .
Missions
Contribute to the drawing up of national strategies relating to the
fight against pollution and the protection of the environment.
Act for the rational use of natural resources for a sustainable development.
Prepare the files of investment approval for projects relating to the
fight against pollution and the protection of the environment
Contribute to the drafting of an urgency and intervention national plan
in case of accidental pollution or external hazards threatening the
environmental balance.
Set up regional offices in order to make the contact with citizens and
industrials easier and secure the control and follow up of the environmental
situation
Promote awareness and education actions, studies and researches on the
fight against pollution and the protection of the environment.
Activities
Analysis and follow up of the country’s environmental situation.
Fight against any source of nuisance and degradation of the natural
environment.
Preventive actions:
Review of the environmental impact studies
Contribution to the drafting of standards
Promotion and public awareness
Environmental training and education.
Corrective actions :
Control of pollution sources
Implementation of the legislation in force
Technical approval of antipollution projects as well as their promotion
in order to grant them the tax and financial benefits provided for
by law
Management of the cleanup fund ( FODEP )
Management of solid wastes ( PRONAGDES )
Other activities :
The ANPE holds the secretariat of the national committee of sustainable
development
The ANPE holds the secretariat of the national committee for the prevention
and fight against marine pollution
the ANPE follows up following agreements:
· Basel Agreement
· Montreal agreement
· Barcelona Agreement
The ANPE supervises the Centre of regional activities for classified
areas.
