Role and remits

 The Department of farming lands development and conservation is in charge of :
(Official Gazette of the Republic of Tunisia dated February 15, 2001)
Drawing up plans and orientations to preserve natural resources in terms of soil, plants, water and farming lands
Suggesting, drawing up and promoting all measures to secure a better use of natural resources
Assessing soil resources and their uses
Carrying out soil and water analyses
Carrying out researches on soil sciences
Supervising the evolution of soils under various uses
Securing the coordination between all parties concerned by the soil and water conservation
Drawing up development studies for catchment basins
Drawing up development studies on no erosive works and planning the implementation of such works
Supervising and following up the execution of water and soil conservation projects
Assessing the development of water and soil conservation
Developing and promoting approaches which aim at a better preservation of resources and involving all parties in the preservation effort.
Securing the use of water and soil conservation structures.
