It is in charge of :
• Drawing up strategic studies, expressing policies and drafting plans relating to the rural engineering field and the use of water in the agricultural sector
• Following up and assessing the projects of developing irrigated areas and farming stabilization, programs for the use of irrigation waters and the maintenance of hydraulic structures and equipment and designing the most appropriate technical and economic methods in this field .
• Rationalizing the use of water, valorizing the use of non conventional waters in agriculture, following up the institutional aspects for the promotion of water associations and implementing the tools of water demand management in the agriculture sector.
• Coordinating programs of drinking water in urban and rural environments, drawing up programs for the supply of drinking water to rural zones, following up and assessing the projects relating to such programs.
• Coordinating rural infrastructure programs and studying the technological and economic aspects of agriculture equipment in order to encourage the mechanization of the farming sector.
