Article 9 of decree 81-793 dated June 9, 1981 providing for the organization of the Central Administration’s sections in the Ministry of Public Health.
The Department of Hygiene and environmental protection is in charge of :
• hygiene control in local public bodies and public and private hospitals and sanitary institutions
• water quality control for consumption water and thermal waters as well as the improvement of public water taps.
• control of the sewage system and purification stations as well as irrigation used waters
• supervising the fight against rodents and insects which represent a vector of diseases.
• contributing to the drafting of plans of housing projects.
• supervising the protection of the environment and the fight against pollution.
• supervising the implementation of sanitary standards in the fields coming under its authority in collaboration with concerned services.
