Background

Set up in 1964 under the aegis of the FAO, the Rural Equipment Engineering School - Medjez El-Bab which was initially named the North African College of Rural Engineering ( C.N.A.G.R) was meant to train technicians in irrigation, drainage, water and soil conservation, topography and mechanization.
In 1969, the college came under the authority of the Ministry of Agriculture. Its mission was to train senior technicians in rural engineering, agricultural mechanization, agriculture and livestock farming management.
In 1976, the college became the « Rural Equipment Engineering School- Medjez El-Bab” (E.S.I.E.R.) by virtue of the Finance act dated December 31, 1976 and the decree 578-96 dated February 1978.

It is a higher education institution under the authority of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Higher Education.

 

Missions

The Rural Equipment Engineering School’s mission is to train study and field engineers specialized in agricultural mechanization, collective equipment and engineering of the natural environment:

Agricultural mechanization : tractors, earthwork and water and soil conservation gears, equipment for the preparation of the soil, for sowing and fertilization, for irrigation and harvests ….
Collective equipment : irrigation and drainage networks, drinking water networks, drinking water networks, pumping stations….
development and protection of hydrosystems : development of catchment basins, rivers….
