Background

Set up in 1913 through the merger of the tests and acclimatization Garden –Tunis ( founded in 1891) and the Agricultural Experimenting Station (founded in 1906) and transformed into the SBAT ( Botany and Agronomy department in 1906) in 1936. The INRAT nomination was adopted in 1961.

Legal status: A public administrative institution under the authority of the Ministry of agriculture ( Law 61-65 dated December 12, 1961).

Missions

Research-Training- Popularization

• Carrying out research programs in the field of agronomy sciences and socio-economic studies in the rural sector.
• Creating improved plant varieties and animal species.
• Contributing to the training and supervision of students and technicians
• Assisting in popularization activities
